My teaching philosophy reflects my artistic vision. When I teach I want to see each artist grow and thrive as an individual - to discover their humanity.

Robyn teaches and substitutes for ages three to sixty-three. Whether it’s toddler movement, professional class, or senior exercise, Robyn is here to share information, clarity, and discovery with each student.

Her experience includes leading summer dance workshops, semester classes, rehearsals, improvisation sessions, and more. While she has led virtual rehearsals, she prefers teaching in person. She says,

“It is important to do, and feel connection. Whether a dancer is brand new or has been dancing for years, my job as the instructor is to help them feel, see, and experience. Then the audience feels what they feel.”

With this in mind, Robyn encourages the use of imagery, initiation, intention, and honest embodiment. She often focuses on weight, breath, musicality, and expression.

In rehearsals she asks artists questions like, “What are you holding?” or “Why are you making this shape?” or “How can you seamlessly transition from one movement to another?” Questions to encourage individual artistic choices and storytelling.

Robyn offers ballet, contemporary, modern (with Limón principles), improvisation/explorative movement, creative movement, and intro to embodiment. To chat, click the link below.
